How to claim it

  1. 1Reserve it on the FAA's site or by mail — $10 per year. You don't need to own an aircraft to hold a reservation.
  2. 2Renew annually until you're ready to use it. Reservations that lapse go back into the public pool.
  3. 3When you buy or re-register an aircraft, assign the reserved N-number to it as part of the registration paperwork.
